SummaryPerforms product inspection and/or audits of quality control programs. Performs packaging line and manufacturing inspections, and sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials. Ensures raw materials, in-process and finished products meet company standards. May apply approval or rejection labels to bulk raw materials once analytical data is evaluated. May draft procedures and assist with validating or troubleshooting testing methods, including assays. May assess draft and final label copy, using knowledge of labeling regulations. Minimizes down time by reducing production rework and recalls.

Job Description
  • Varex Imaging QA Inspector: performs mechanical inspection duties using inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, height gauges, etc..) to ensure that incoming, in-process and outgoing product fulfills customer and internal specifications and quality requirements at our Las Vegas, Nevada facility.
  • Inspector Experience / Requirements
    • Working knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5
    • Inspects and tests parts, assemblies and product using precision measuring and testing equipment.
    • Ensures raw materials, in-process and finished products meet company standards.
    • Receives parts into our inspection area coming in from the supply chain.
    • Ability to read engineering drawings and determine what tools are needed to inspect product.
    • Ability to use inspection tools (i.e. calipers, micrometers, CMM, height gauges, etc.).
    • Works closely with Supplier Quality Engineers to resolve issues on the production floor.
    • Indicate if the product is accepted to deploy to the next step of the process or if the product is not acceptable to deploy and initiate a rejection report in SAP.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required Certifications and Training

  • CMM Certified a plus.
  • ASQ CQI a plus.

Additional Requirements / Skills & Knowledge

  • Adheres to all procedures and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of common SAE and Metric tool sizes preferred
  • Good attention to detail; organized and thorough.
  • Maintains a clean work area.
  • Proficient in utilizing business tools, i.e Computers, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.
  • Completes training as assigned.

Typical Education and Experience

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience
  • Manufacturing experience
  • 3 - 5 years' experience as a Quality Inspector

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Environment and Physical Demands

  • Work will require employee to lift/move up to 75lbs. frequently 34-66%,
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving heavy equipment and/or suppliesfrequently 34-66%
  • Reaching (above, below, or above and below) the shoulder Frequently 34-66%.
  • Above-average agility and dexterity with the ability to hold, grasp and manipulate small parts and use hand and power tools Constantly 67-100%.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and handle physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, stretching, reaching, repetitive motion, or similar activities.
  • Work environments includes proximity to moving mechanical parts, repetitive hand motion, and uneven surfaces.

  • Travel not likely but possible for training purposes.
